An Indian-origin businessman lost his life in a shocking attack in Edmonton, Canada. Arvi Singh Sagoo, 55, was assaulted on October 19 after he stopped a man who was urinating on his car.
Sagoo and his girlfriend had just finished dinner and were walking back to their car when they saw the man. He asked, “Hey, what are you doing?” The stranger replied, “Whatever I want,” and punched him hard in the head. Sagoo fell to the ground as his girlfriend called 911 for help.
Paramedics arrived within minutes and rushed him to the hospital. Doctors put him on life support, but he passed away five days later.
Police arrested Kyle Papin, the man accused of attacking Sagoo, and charged him with aggravated assault. Officials said more charges could follow because of Sagoo’s death.
Sagoo’s close friend, Vincent Ram, started an online fundraiser to support his two children and cover funeral expenses. He described Sagoo as a kind and caring father who always helped others. The Indian community in Edmonton is deeply saddened and demanding stronger public safety measures.
