Indian-origin couple arrested in Virginia after a federal raid exposed a drug and sex trafficking operation at a motel. Authorities detained Kosha Sharma, 52, and Tarun Sharma, 55, after undercover investigations. Federal prosecutors said the couple operated the Red Carpet Inn. They allegedly used the third floor for prostitution and drug sales. Regular guests stayed on the lower floors.
Court records showed the motel was leased and run by the couple since May 2023. Investigators alleged the pair allowed criminal groups to operate. They also allegedly took a share of illegal profits. Police said Kosha Sharma directed buyers and clients to specific rooms. Officers said she warned suspects when police arrived. This tactic delayed room inspections.
Three more suspects were arrested during the raid. They include Margo Pierce, Joshua Reddick, and Rashard Smith. Authorities linked them to trafficking and drug distribution. Undercover agents visited the motel at least nine times. Investigators identified eight women forced into prostitution. Reports said they faced restrictions and abuse.
Agents also completed 15 controlled drug purchases. They bought fentanyl and cocaine during these operations. All five suspects face conspiracy charges. Convictions could bring mandatory prison terms of at least ten years.
