Indian-origin truck drivers were arrested after a violent tow-truck shootout in Canada, police confirmed. Peel Regional Police are still searching for a fourth suspect linked to the case. The incident happened around 10:45 pm on October 7 in Brampton. Specifically, it occurred in a parking lot near McVean Drive and Castlemore Road. According to police, two rival tow-truck groups confronted each other.
Soon after, the argument escalated and gunshots rang out. As a result, one person suffered injuries. However, officers said the injuries were minor and not life-threatening. Meanwhile, investigators reviewed video footage and gathered evidence.
After several weeks, police identified three suspects tied to one group. On November 20, officers carried out a search warrant at a residence in Caledon. During the operation, they arrested Manjot Bhatti, Navjot Bhatti, and Amanjot Bhatti. Manjot Bhatti now faces several firearm-related charges. These include reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon. He also faces charges related to unsafe storage and carrying a concealed firearm. Later, the court released him on bail pending a hearing in Brampton.
Navjot and Amanjot Bhatti allegedly travelled in a vehicle while knowing a firearm was inside. Therefore, police released them on undertakings with strict conditions. Meanwhile, police continue to search for the alleged shooter. They described him as a South Asian male wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and white running shoes.
