The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) is preparing to write a new chapter in Indian sports by forming the country’s first-ever official pickleball team for the Pickleball World Cup in Florida, USA. This historic step highlights the rapid growth of the sport in India and its rising global ambitions.
The IPA has announced that national selection trials will take place in Ahmedabad, bringing together players from across the nation. Athletes will compete in three categories: Under-16 boys and girls, the Open division for top male and female players, and the Seniors 50+ group for seasoned competitors.
Recognized as the national governing body for pickleball, the IPA is working with global federations to ensure India fields a strong and competitive squad. Officials described the move as a defining milestone that will give Indian players international exposure and inspire the next generation of athletes.
The Pickleball World Cup, to be held in Fort Lauderdale, is expected to attract thousands of participants from several countries. For India, this debut not only marks entry onto the world stage but also signals the sport’s long-term potential at home, where it is quickly gaining popularity among youth and veterans alike.
