Indore Observes ‘No Car Day’ to Promote Eco-Friendly Living
In a bold step toward sustainable urban living, Indore is observing its third consecutive ‘No Car Day’ today, aligning with World Car-Free Day. The initiative, led by the Indore Municipal Corporation, encourages residents to avoid using private vehicles for the day.
Several main roads, including Rajwada and MG Road, have been closed to cars and motorbikes, creating safe zones for walking, cycling, and public transport. The event is part of a broader push to reduce air pollution, traffic congestion, and carbon emissions.
Volunteers, civic officials, and school children participated in awareness drives, urging citizens to adopt greener commuting habits. Free e-bike rides and special public transport services were offered to facilitate travel.
Known as India’s cleanest city, Indore aims to become a model for eco-conscious urban planning, showing that small changes in daily behavior can lead to big environmental benefits.
