The integrated terminal at Vijayawada airport will not open as scheduled, with authorities extending the completion deadline to March 31, officials said on Sunday. The delay comes as finishing works continue on the major airport infrastructure project.
Officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said construction has crossed 80% completion. Teams have already finished major components such as glass façade work, interior fittings, flooring, and the baggage conveyor system. Crews are now focusing on electrical systems, testing, and final safety checks.
Once construction ends, commissioning of the integrated terminal at Vijayawada airport may take another two months, officials added. During this phase, authorities will test passenger facilities, security systems, and operational readiness before opening the terminal to the public.
