Iran has said that recent nuclear talks were used to judge how serious the United States is about reaching an agreement. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani Baghaei said the discussions helped Iran understand the U.S. position and intentions.
He added that Iran expects the United States to act independently and not be influenced by foreign pressure, especially from Israel. Referring to Israeli Prime Minister’s expected visit to Washington on February 11, Baghaei said U.S. decisions should consider the interests of the region and also its own national interests.
Iran has long accused Israel of opposing any agreement related to Iran’s nuclear programme. Iranian officials say such pressure creates tension and blocks peaceful solutions.
The spokesperson stressed that Iran supports dialogue but expects talks to be fair and respectful. He said meaningful progress is possible only if the U.S. shows seriousness and avoids political pressure. The situation remains sensitive as diplomatic efforts continue.
