Visakhapatnam: Former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s fiery remarks against the privatization of government medical colleges have shaken Andhra Pradesh politics, leaving the ruling coalition defensive. During his visit to Narsipatnam Medical College, Jagan accused the government of “selling modern temples” by handing public colleges to private firms under the PPP model. Despite heavy rains and police restrictions, massive crowds gathered to meet him, reflecting growing public anger over privatization.

Jagan highlighted how his government secured 17 medical colleges with central support, questioning why the current administration claims a lack of funds for public healthcare while spending heavily on Amaravati infrastructure projects.

He also vowed to reclaim privatized colleges once YSRCP returns to power. Meanwhile, analysts say TDP’s credibility has taken a hit as even neutral citizens view the policy as anti-poor, while Jagan’s outreach has reignited political momentum for the opposition.
