Strengthens

India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a series of important bilateral talks on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. He met with leaders from Mexico, Cyprus, and several Pacific Island nations to reaffirm India’s commitment to deepening global partnerships.

Jaishankar met Juan Ramon de la Fuente, Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday. They discussed recent exchanges and agreed to build a stronger roadmap for future cooperation.

In another meeting, he spoke with Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. The two leaders reviewed progress in their countries’ bilateral ties, especially following Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Cyprus earlier this year.

Jaishankar praised Kombos for his insights on European developments and reaffirmed India’s support for resolving the Cyprus Question under the agreed UN framework and UNSC resolutions. He also expressed eagerness to welcome Kombos to India soon.

Additionally, Jaishankar participated in the FIPIC (Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He met several Pacific Island leaders and discussed enhancing relations and regional cooperation.

These meetings reflect India’s growing diplomatic outreach and its efforts to build stronger ties with diverse regions across the world.
