Jaishankar to Represent India at ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to attend the upcoming ASEAN Summit scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 26 to 28, 2025. According to government sources, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent India at the high-level meetings. The summit is expected to focus on strengthening regional cooperation, economic integration, and addressing security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. India’s participation underscores its continued commitment to ASEAN-led forums, including the East Asia Summit and related dialogues. While no official reason has been cited for the Prime Minister’s absence, officials have indicated that India remains firmly engaged with ASEAN partners to advance shared priorities such as connectivity, trade, and maritime security.
