Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has begun a three-day visit to the United States to attend an important ministerial meeting on critical minerals. The visit, which started on February 2, 2026, aims to strengthen cooperation between India and the U.S. in the field of critical minerals, which are essential for technology, clean energy, and manufacturing.

The U.S.-hosted ministerial will focus on building resilient supply chains for critical minerals, promoting clean energy transitions, and enhancing strategic partnerships between countries. These minerals play a key role in producing batteries, electric vehicles, solar panels, and other high-tech equipment.

During his visit, Jaishankar is expected to hold discussions with U.S. officials and other international delegates to explore opportunities for collaboration, investment, and trade in the critical minerals sector.

The Indian government sees this visit as important for India’s energy security and economic growth, as well as for strengthening bilateral ties with the United States in strategic and technological areas.
