Jalandhar Girl Murder Case: ASI Removed for Misleading Family

Major Action in Jalandhar

The Jalandhar girl murder case has created shock and anger across Punjab. The incident pushed the police department to take one of its toughest actions in recent months. Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur removed ASI Mangat Ram from service after his role raised serious concerns. She found that the officer misled the victim’s family during the crucial early hours of the case.

The family searched for their 13-year-old daughter with fear and desperation. When they approached the ASI, he told them that the girl was not inside the neighbour’s house. His claim turned out to be false. Police later recovered her body from that same house. The family broke down after learning that the ASI made the statement without checking the location properly. Commissioner Kaur reached the family’s home on the fourth day. She offered support and promised strict action against every person who blocks justice, even if the person is a police official.

Police teams arrested the accused, Harminder Singh alias Happy, soon after the recovery of the body. Investigators now question him for nine days after the court granted police remand. Officers continue to collect digital clues, witness statements, and scientific evidence. Teams also meet the family regularly to update them about progress.

The incident sparked deep concern among parents and community groups. Many residents demanded stronger safety measures for children. Local organisations requested more CCTV coverage, more patrols in sensitive areas, and quicker response systems. They also appreciated Commissioner Kaur’s direct involvement.

The victim’s family wants the case to shift to a Fast Track Court. They believe quick punishment will bring them peace and also send a strong message. The Jalandhar girl murder case has highlighted the need for honest policing, faster action, and trustworthy investigations.
