Jalandhar police drug bust delivered a major blow to narcotics trafficking with the arrest of a young man carrying opium.
The Commissionerate Police crime branch carried out the operation near Guru Gobind Singh Avenue.
Police teams acted under the supervision of Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur.
Senior officers from the investigation and detective wings monitored the action.

On December 18, officers stopped a suspect near a gurdwara and a temple.
They detained him based on suspicious movement and questioned him at the spot.
Police identified the accused as Sahil alias Khatri, a resident of Arjan Nagar, Jalandhar.
During the search, officers recovered 2 kilograms and 10 grams of opium from his possession.
Police registered an FIR at Rama Mandi police station under relevant NDPS Act sections.
Records showed the accused already faced four criminal cases in different police stations.
Investigators have continued questioning to trace the wider drug supply network.
They are checking both forward and backward links connected to the smuggling chain.
Police officials said the drive against drug traffickers will continue with strict enforcement.
The Jalandhar police reiterated their commitment to curb drug crime and protect public safety.
