A shocking Jamui robbery has shaken Bihar after armed criminals looted jewellery and cash worth nearly ₹60 lakh from a jeweller’s house and shop late Sunday night. The Jamui robbery took place in the Sikandra police station area and left the family traumatised.
According to reports, around a dozen masked men broke the shutter of Shakuntala Jewellers around midnight. They entered the house from the shop side and held the entire family hostage at gunpoint.
The criminals threatened to kill family members and warned of kidnapping the children if anyone resisted. Out of fear, the family remained silent during the two-hour ordeal.
The robbers escaped with about ₹6.4 lakh in cash, nearly 400 grams of gold, and around 50 kilograms of silver. Jewellery kept in the shop and house was completely looted.
The victim, Mukesh Kumar Sah, has been running the jewellery business for nearly 30 years and lives with his family behind the shop.
After the criminals fled, neighbours gathered when an alarm was raised. Sikandra police reached the spot and began an investigation. Family members claim they may have identified one or two suspects.
