Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj has assured full support to the Sikh community of Shillong from Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He gave this assurance while addressing a large gathering in Meghalaya on Sunday.

The acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib attended a special Gurmat programme in Shillong. The event marked the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dyala Ji. The programme took place at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Bara Bazaar.

Earlier, Jathedar Gargajj also joined a Nagar Kirtan organised from Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Laitumkhrah. He performed seva during the bhog ceremony and respectfully placed Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at the sanctum.

Large numbers of Sikh devotees from Shillong, Assam, and the Northeast attended the events. Renowned ragi, kavi, and dhadi jathas connected the sangat with Gurbani and Sikh history.

Addressing the gathering, Jathedar Gargajj urged Sikhs to live with high morale and strong faith. He asked parents to teach Punjabi and Gurmukhi to children. He expressed satisfaction that many Sikh youths maintain their traditional identity.

He highlighted Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s supreme sacrifice for religious freedom. Jathedar Gargajj said Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sikhs worldwide stand firmly with Shillong Sikhs. He appealed to Sikh organisations to raise a global voice against any injustice.

Meghalaya cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai also met Jathedar Gargajj and assured support to the Sikh community. The organisers honoured Jathedar Gargajj with a siropa and recognised Sikh contributors for their services.
