The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced plans to allot land on lease to families who lost their homesdue to recent natural disasters. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said this step will help landless families rebuild their lives after the flash floods and landslides in Udhampur district.
He added that more than 6,400 affected families have already received financial assistance to meet their immediate needs. The leased land will allow families to construct houses or use it for agriculture, giving them long-term support.
The government is also focusing on rehabilitation and disaster management to prevent future losses. Relief work is ongoing, and officials are coordinating to ensure timely help reaches all affected areas.
CM Omar Abdullah said that this initiative shows the government’s commitment to support vulnerable families and restore normalcy in regions affected by natural calamities.
