Journalist Murdered in Prayagraj, Main Accused Arrested After Encounter
A journalist was brutally hacked to death in Prayagraj on Thursday night, sparking outrage across Uttar Pradesh. Police identified the victim as Rajesh Singh, who was attacked near his residence. Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said evidence from the crime scene and eyewitness accounts revealed that the assault was carried out by Vishal, the main accused, along with several accomplices.
Following an intensive manhunt, police tracked down Vishal early Friday. He was arrested after a brief encounter during which he sustained a gunshot injury. The weapon believed to have been used in the crime was recovered from the site. Authorities are now searching for the remaining suspects involved in the killing.
Senior officials described the murder as a targeted attack and assured that a fast-track investigation would be conducted. The journalist fraternity has condemned the killing and demanded strict action to ensure justice and press freedom in the state.
