JSW to Invest $90 Million in Military Drone Facility in Hyderabad
JSW Group has announced plans to establish a $90 million military drone manufacturing plant in Hyderabad under its subsidiary, JSW Defence. The facility will focus on the production of V-BAT drones, a type of vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial vehicle designed for military and strategic applications.
According to the company, manufacturing is expected to commence by the last quarter of 2026, with the facility equipped to handle large-scale production and testing of advanced drones. JSW Defence aims to contribute to India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports.
Officials stated that the plant will generate employment opportunities in engineering, manufacturing, and research while positioning Hyderabad as a hub for defence technology. The initiative aligns with the government’s “Make in India for Defence” strategy and reflects growing private-sector participation in high-tech defence production.
