Hyderabad: In a major political development, Cherka Mahesh, former Joint Convener of the BJP Jubilee Hills constituency, announced his resignation from the party, citing betrayal of public trust. In a letter addressed to Telangana BJP chief G. Ramchander Rao, Mahesh accused the BJP and Congress of secretly working together, particularly on the issue of BC reservations, claiming both parties had deceived the people of Telangana.
He further alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the BJP leadership had “joined hands behind closed doors,” betraying the state’s farmers, youth, women, and Backward Classes.
Mahesh stated that the BJP’s silence on key public issues showed its failure to act as a true opposition. Expressing disappointment with the party’s direction, he declared that he could no longer remain in an organization that “has compromised the interests of Telangana’s people.”
