In the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, candidates will now face strict scrutiny on poll expenditure. Expenditure Observer Sanjeev Kumar Lal instructed officials that every single rupee spent on campaigning must be recorded and added to the candidate’s expenditure account.
During his visit to the GHMC head office, he inspected the MCMC and Electronic Media Monitoring Rooms, directing teams to keep a close watch on paid news, monitor campaign promotions, and track all publicity material. He also ordered that rallies, roadshows, and public meetings be video-recorded to ensure transparency and prevent violations of the election code.
The Election Commission aims to maintain fair play and financial accountability, making sure no candidate exceeds permitted spending limits in the by-poll.
