Kangana Ranaut Defamation Hearing is scheduled today at a Bathinda court, drawing political and public attention.
BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut will appear in person in a defamation case linked to the farmers’ protest.
The case relates to a controversial social media remark she made about an elderly woman protester.
During the previous hearing, Kangana did not attend the court personally.
Her lawyer represented her and cited the Parliament session as the reason.
The court accepted the request and fixed January 5, 2026, for her personal appearance.
The complainant, Mahinder Kaur, is an 87-year-old woman from Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda.
Her counsel, Advocate Raghbir Singh Beniwal, said the court issued clear directions earlier.
He stated that Kangana must appear in person and follow witness examination guidelines.
The case stems from a tweet during the farmers’ movement against farm laws.
Kangana alleged that Mahinder Kaur joined protests for money.
The remark sparked outrage and led to legal action.
The court has also instructed both sides to inform in advance if they plan additional witnesses.
Today’s hearing is expected to move the case forward.
The matter continues to fuel debate on free speech and accountability.
