Senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal made strong remarks about the ongoing government formation issue in Tamil Nadu. Kapil Sibal on Tamil Nadu Politics became a major topic after he criticised the Governor’s handling of the situation.
Sibal said the Governor’s decision to ask the largest party to prove its majority before inviting it to form the government goes against established constitutional practice. He explained that a Governor usually invites the single largest party first and then asks it to prove its majority on the Assembly floor.
The issue involves the party led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which reportedly won the highest number of seats. However, the Governor asked the party to submit letters of support from 118 MLAs before taking oath.
Sibal also claimed that some Governors act under political pressure. He warned that such actions weaken federal values and ignore the voters’ mandate. Kapil Sibal on Tamil Nadu Politics has now sparked wider debate across the country.
