The Kapurthala cyber fraud racket was uncovered during a late-night raid on Palahi Road, Phagwara. A joint team led by Phagwara DSP Bharat Bhushan and Inspector Amandeep Kaur of the Cyber Cell arrested 36 people. Police seized 40 laptops, 67 mobile phones, and ₹10 lakh in cash from the site.

SSP Gaurav Toora said the case was registered under FIR No. 14 dated September 19, 2025, at PS Cyber Crime Kapurthala. The accused face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act. Investigations are focusing on the group’s wider financial channels and foreign links.

Police identified Amrinder Singh, alias Sabhi Tohri of Phagwara, as the mastermind. He had leased the building for the illegal operation. The call centre was managed by Jaspreet Singh of New Ranjit Nagar and Sajan Madan of New Delhi. Both were linked to Suraj in Delhi, who maintained ties with a Kolkata-based suspect named Shen.

The gang targeted victims in the United States and Canada by posing as software providers. Payments were collected through Bitcoin and hawala channels. Authorities are now tracing the international network to uncover the full scope of the fraud.
