Karjol Criticises Congress for Failing to Elevate Dalit Leaders

BJP leader and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol has remarked that “Congress will never make a Dalit Chief Minister,” asserting that the party lacks genuine commitment to social justice despite frequent claims to the contrary. Speaking in Belagavi on November 28, 2025, he suggested that the Congress leadership uses Dalit issues primarily for political messaging rather than meaningful empowerment.
Karjol argued that leadership decisions within Congress are tightly controlled by a select few and that power sharing is treated as an internal matter rather than a platform for inclusive representation. He contrasted this with the BJP’s approach, claiming his party has offered greater opportunities for leaders from marginalized communities.
Responding to questions on whether the BJP planned to project a Dalit Chief Ministerial candidate in Karnataka, Karjol maintained that such decisions would emerge through collective party processes and not as symbolic political gestures.
