Karnataka Clears ₹2,350 Crore Cricket Stadium Plan, Offers Relief to Farmers

The Karnataka Cabinet has approved a ₹2,350 crore proposal for the construction of a world-class cricket stadium at Suryanagara in south Bengaluru. The project aims to boost sports infrastructure in the state and position Bengaluru as a key destination for international cricket events. Once completed, the stadium is expected to host major national and international matches, providing a significant boost to local tourism and the economy.
In addition to the stadium project, the Cabinet also announced a relief package for farmers affected by crop loss in rain-fed areas. An input subsidy of ₹17,000 per hectare will be provided to support farmers who have suffered due to erratic weather conditions. This move is part of the state’s broader efforts to address agrarian distress and support rural livelihoods. Both decisions reflect the government’s focus on development across sectors, from sports infrastructure to agriculture support.
