Karnataka Disburses ₹63.16 Crore Crop Loss Compensation to 65,217 Farmers in Dharwad
The Karnataka government has disbursed ₹63.16 crore in crop loss compensation to farmers in Dharwad district, officials said on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu stated that the amount has been distributed to 65,217 beneficiary farmers under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) guidelines. The compensation aims to support farmers who suffered losses due to recent adverse weather conditions, including unseasonal rains and pest attacks, which damaged crops across the district. Authorities emphasized that the timely release of funds is intended to help farmers recover and sustain agricultural activities ahead of the next sowing season. Local officials have been instructed to ensure proper verification of claims and smooth transfer of funds to beneficiaries. The initiative has been welcomed by farmers’ associations, who noted that government support is crucial in mitigating financial distress caused by natural calamities.
