Karnataka Govt. Reaches Half-Term Amid Power-Sharing Tussle and Cabinet Reshuffle Uncertainty
The Karnataka government has completed the midpoint of its term amid ongoing tensions over power-sharing arrangements and uncertainty surrounding a possible Cabinet reshuffle. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar continue to face internal pressure from their respective factions within the Congress, with supporters of Shivakumar insisting on implementing an informal rotational-leadership formula. However, the party high command has not confirmed any such arrangement, leaving the situation politically sensitive.
Despite the undercurrents, the government highlights progress in welfare schemes and fiscal management over its first two and a half years. Siddaramaiah, known for his budgetary expertise, is expected to surpass former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs’s record as the longest-serving CM if he remains in office until the upcoming Budget session.
As speculation builds over Cabinet changes, both leaders publicly maintain unity, though internal negotiations are likely to shape the government’s stability in the coming months.
