Kashmir Sends Over 1.37 Lakh Tonnes of Fresh Fruit Across India::
Over the past 10 days, Jammu and Kashmir has successfully dispatched over 1.37 lakh metric tonnes of fresh fruit, including apples, to markets across India. This achievement was made possible through coordinated efforts involving the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway, Mughal Road, and the newly inaugurated parcel train service to Delhi.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, reported that approximately 1,500 to 2,000 fruit-laden trucks are dispatched daily via the National Highway and Mughal Road on an alternate-day basis. Additionally, the parcel train service has been transporting 800 to 1,000 metric tonnes of fruit daily to Delhi, with plans to extend this service to Anantnag and Baramulla to facilitate smoother dispatches from South and North Kashmir.
These measures, implemented under a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) formulated by the Chief Secretary, aim to streamline the transportation of fresh fruits and essential supplies, ensuring that growers face no inconvenience during the harvest season.
