Kavach on fast track with 40,000 personnel trained and Version 4.0 commissioned
Kavach on fast track as 40,000 personnel have now been trained and Version 4.0 has been officially commissioned, the Minister said on Sunday. The major push comes as Indian Railways accelerates its efforts to improve safety and reduce accidents across the network.
South Central Railway has already deployed Kavach Version 3.2 on 1,465 route km. Officials said that based on the experience gained from this rollout, several improvements were added to create Version 4.0. The upgraded system promises better communication, faster response, and enhanced protection against signal overshoots.
The Minister noted that training more personnel is essential for scaling up the technology nationwide. Workshops, field sessions, and simulator-based modules are being used to build technical expertise among staff.
Railway teams are now preparing for wider implementation in high-density corridors. The goal is to integrate Kavach into more routes as part of a long-term safety strategy.
Passengers and experts have welcomed the rapid progress, saying advanced technologies like Kavach can significantly improve operational safety and reduce human error.
