KCR Announces Statewide Agitation Over Delays in Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Project
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has announced plans for a massive agitation over the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project, accusing both the State and Central governments of neglecting the project. He alleged that delays, fund shortages, and lack of clearances have severely affected the progress of the scheme, which is crucial for providing irrigation and drinking water to drought-prone regions.
Addressing party leaders, KCR said the project was designed to transform the Palamuru region and improve farmers’ livelihoods. He criticised the present State government for failing to pursue the project with commitment and blamed the Centre for not extending adequate financial and administrative support.
KCR warned that the BRS would mobilise farmers and the public for a large-scale movement if the governments continued to ignore the project. He demanded immediate steps to expedite works, release pending funds, and protect Telangana’s irrigation interests. According to him, the agitation would continue until justice is done to the people of the region.
