Thiruvananthapuram, January 2, 2026: Kerala record liquor sales marked a high-spirited New Year celebration as the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) posted its highest-ever single-day turnover on December 31. People across the State welcomed 2026 with celebrations that pushed sales to unprecedented levels.
According to Bevco officials, liquor sales touched ₹125.64 crore across retail outlets and warehouses on New Year’s Eve. This figure showed a sharp rise of ₹16.93 crore compared to ₹108.71 crore recorded on December 31, 2024. The surge confirmed the strong festive demand and increased footfall at outlets.
Among all Bevco outlets, the Kadavanthra outlet in Kochi topped the list. It recorded sales worth ₹1.17 crore in a single day. Officials said several urban outlets also reported unusually high sales from early morning until closing time.
The Kerala record liquor sales trend reflects changing consumption patterns during festivals and holidays. Bevco staff worked extended hours to manage crowds and ensure smooth operations. The corporation also strengthened logistics to meet demand.
Officials said the strong performance will boost State revenue. Excise collections form a major part of Kerala’s income. Economists noted that festive seasons often bring sharp spikes in liquor sales.
Kerala once again set a benchmark with its New Year sales figures, underlining Bevco’s central role in the State’s economy.
