Kolkata Metro services on the Blue Line were briefly disrupted on Tuesday after a passenger attempted suicide at Dumdum station, marking the third such incident in six days. The episode occurred at 11:31 am when the individual jumped onto the down-line tracks just as a train approached the platform. Metro authorities immediately imposed a power block to facilitate rescue operations, causing a 40-minute suspension of services between Dakshineswar and Sobhabazar on both up and down routes.

According to Metro officials, normal operations were restored at 12:11 pm, but the repeated incidents have raised concerns regarding commuter safety. This latest episode follows two earlier suicide attempts on the same corridor. On November 22, a middle-aged man jumped onto the tracks at MG Road station, disrupting services between Maidan and Dum Dum. Truncated services were run in segments until full operations resumed at 4:13 pm.

Two days before that, on November 20, another suicide attempt at Netaji station halted services for nearly an hour along the north–south alignment. All three incidents prompted emergency responses, temporary power cuts, and rescue efforts. Authorities are now under pressure to enhance platform monitoring and passenger safety measures across the network.
