Indian women’s cricket World Cup winner Kranti Goud visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on Sunday morning. She attended the sacred Bhasma Aarti and sought blessings from Lord Mahakal. The visit added to a growing list of celebrated athletes reaching the temple after major victories.
Kranti arrived at the temple around 4 am and participated in the early morning rituals. She sat in the Nandi Hall and remained deeply absorbed in devotion during the Bhasma Aarti. After the prayers, she bowed at the threshold of the sanctum and offered her respects. Temple committee deputy administrator SN Soni welcomed and honoured her after the rituals.
Speaking to media, Kranti said the visit fulfilled a promise made before the World Cup. She shared that the entire team had prayed at Mahakal’s shrine before the tournament. They had vowed to return after winning the trophy. Since the team could not come together, players are visiting individually.
Kranti praised the temple management for smooth arrangements despite heavy crowds. She said devotees were receiving darshan without difficulty.
After the World Cup win, several women cricketers have visited the temple. Earlier, all-rounder Sneha Rana offered prayers to thank Mahakal for success. At the start of the new year, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh Thakur, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, and Sneha Rana also sought blessings at the shrine. The visits reflect strong faith among players.
