KSCA Elections: Karnataka HC Reserves Order on K.N. Shanth Kumar’s Plea
The Karnataka High Court has reserved its order on a petition filed by K.N. Shanth Kumar challenging the rejection of his nomination papers for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) presidential election. Justice Suraj Govindaraj reserved the verdict after hearing arguments presented by Shanth Kumar, the KSCA, the Electoral Officer, and rival candidates — former cricketers B.K. Venkatesh Prasad and Kalpana Venkatachar.
Shanth Kumar’s counsel argued that his nomination was dismissed on technical grounds that were neither substantial nor justified, alleging procedural lapses in the scrutiny process. The KSCA and Electoral Officer, however, defended the rejection, maintaining that the nomination did not meet mandatory requirements.
The case has drawn considerable attention within Karnataka’s cricketing community, as the outcome may influence the dynamics of the high-stakes election. The court’s decision, once delivered, will determine whether Shanth Kumar can re-enter the contest for the association’s top post.
