Telangana politics heated up once again as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Speaking to the media, KTR accused Rahul Gandhi of indulging in “MLA chori” (poaching legislators) in Telangana, saying such acts reflect poorly on a national leader who often talks about ethics and morality.
KTR questioned how Rahul Gandhi, who campaigns across India raising issues of democracy and constitutional values, could justify engineering defections for political survival in Telangana. He said Rahul should feel ashamed for resorting to what he described as “cheap politics.”
The BRS leader alleged that the Congress government in Telangana has failed to deliver on its promises and is now trying to divert attention by targeting opposition MLAs. “Instead of focusing on governance, Rahul Gandhi is busy destabilizing political systems in states by poaching leaders. This is nothing but hypocrisy,” KTR said.
He also reminded that the Congress had promised transparency, clean politics, and welfare programs, but in reality, it is only busy strengthening its numbers in the Assembly through questionable means. According to KTR, people of Telangana are watching closely and will soon give a befitting reply.
The war of words comes at a time when the Congress government in Telangana faces mounting pressure from opposition parties over issues like unemployment, irrigation projects, and farmer welfare. KTR said the BRS will continue to raise public issues and expose what he called the Congress’ “double standards.”
With this sharp criticism, Telangana politics is likely to see more heated exchanges between the BRS and Congress in the coming days.
