Lakhisarai Death Feast Dispute: Son Chooses Blanket Distribution Over Tradition

Lakhisarai death feast dispute as son distributes blankets to poor people

Lakhisarai death feast dispute has drawn attention after two brothers took different paths following their mother’s death. The incident took place in Ward No. 6 of Old Bazaar, Dharamraychak area, Lakhisarai. Lakhisarai death feast dispute emerged when the younger son refused to organise a traditional feast.

The brothers’ 72-year-old mother, Yashoda Devi, passed away on December 22. After the last rites, the elder son decided to follow custom and arranged a feast for relatives and villagers.

However, the younger son opposed the idea. He believed spending money on a feast was unnecessary. Instead, he chose to help people in need during the cold season.

The younger son organised a blanket distribution programme at Bishahari Sthan. Nearly 250 poor and needy people received blankets. He said charity and service bring more peace to the departed soul than rituals.

His decision caused disagreement within the family. Some locals supported the charitable act, while others backed the traditional feast.

Despite mixed reactions, the blanket distribution went ahead smoothly. The incident has started discussions in the area about changing social customs and using rituals as an opportunity to help the poor.
