Leadership Turmoil Puts Siddaramaiah to the Test: Bommai’s Sharp Critique
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on November 24 called this a “testing time” for CM Siddaramaiah amid a leadership row in the Congress. Bommai said the struggle isn’t just about power — it’s between two versions of Siddaramaiah: the “rebellious” past leader and a more “compromised” one now. He argued that if Siddaramaiah remains true to his original hardline style, he will never yield power; but if he’s softened, he might back down. Bommai claimed observers will soon see which version he is when he insists on staying in office for a full five-year term. He added that internal cracks in the Congress began the day Siddaramaiah came to power and have since deepened. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has maintained he will serve for the full term if the party’s high command supports him.
