Lokayukta Raids Bengaluru Revenue Offices in Khata Bribery Probe

The Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids on several revenue offices in Bengaluru on November 29 in connection with a bribery scandal involving khata issuance. The operation targeted officials allegedly accepting illegal payments to expedite the processing of property ownership certificates, commonly known as khatas.
According to sources, multiple revenue offices across the city were searched, and documents, digital records, and other evidence were seized to substantiate the ongoing investigation. The raids come amid growing public concern over corruption in land and property administration, which has long been a contentious issue in urban Bengaluru.
The Lokayukta has stated that action will be taken against any officials found complicit in the bribery network. Citizens have been urged to report any instances of corruption or undue influence in khata processing. The agency emphasized that these measures are part of a larger crackdown to restore transparency and accountability in revenue administration.
