Lokesh seeks Centre’s nod for 11 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Andhra Pradesh

Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh on Monday urged the Union government to sanction 11 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) to Andhra Pradesh to strengthen access to quality education in rural and backward regions. He said the State deserved more JNVs in view of its population and educational needs.
Addressing a review meeting, Mr. Lokesh highlighted several reforms introduced by the State government to improve learning outcomes. He explained the implementation of the Guaranteed Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (GFLN) programme, aimed at ensuring basic reading and arithmetic skills among primary school students. He also spoke about the Interactive Classroom Response System, which enables real-time student participation and assessment through digital tools.
Mr. Lokesh said these initiatives had shown encouraging results and demonstrated the State’s commitment to educational innovation. He expressed hope that the Centre would positively consider Andhra Pradesh’s request and support its efforts to expand quality schooling infrastructure.
