A medical student in Maharashtra has alleged that people at his hostel forced him to perform Namaz against his will. The student told his parents that he felt pressured to take part in a religious practice that did not match his personal beliefs. He said the experience caused discomfort and mental stress.
The incident reportedly took place at a government medical college hostel where the student currently resides. According to the family, some hostel residents repeatedly asked him to join Namaz and created an environment where refusal felt difficult. The student claimed that the pressure continued for some time and affected his sense of safety.
After hearing their son’s account, the parents approached the Vishva Hindu Parishad for support. They said the matter involved coercion and a violation of individual freedom. VHP representatives later contacted authorities and sought an official response to the complaint.
Soon after, police deployed personnel near the hostel to prevent any disturbance. Officers spoke with the student and began gathering information from other residents. They also contacted hostel officials to understand the situation clearly. Police said their main focus remains on maintaining peace and ensuring student safety.
The medical college administration acknowledged the complaint and said it is reviewing the issue. Officials urged students to remain calm and cooperate with the inquiry. They also said the hostel should remain a safe and inclusive space for everyone.
Community leaders emphasized the importance of respecting personal choices in educational institutions. They stated that no individual should face pressure over religious practices. Police confirmed that they will take appropriate action if the inquiry finds any wrongdoing. The investigation continues.
