Maharashtra Occupancy Certificate Policy will provide relief to more than 25,000 buildings in Mumbai. The new framework will help housing societies secure their Occupancy Certificate (OC) in a simplified way.
Maharashtra Occupancy Certificate Policy was announced after Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar met with party leaders and BMC officials. The Urban Development Department will implement it from October 2. The scheme will address technical and administrative errors that earlier blocked OC approvals.
Buildings constructed under the rules of BMC, MHADA, and SRA can now benefit. Relief will also cover projects where OCs were held back due to minor issues like setback problems or variations in permitted area. Even cases where developers failed to provide land or flats to the administration will find a way forward.
Mr. Shelar said the process will run online to ensure full transparency. Housing societies have been urged to take the lead in applying. They may also seek part-OC, either collectively or individually.
Applications filed in the first six months will face no penalty. However, if extra FSI has been used, developers must pay the required premium. The policy aims to bring long-awaited relief to thousands of residents.
