A key meeting on Andhra Pradesh district bifurcation will be held today under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. The Cabinet Sub-Committee formed to study the reorganisation will attend the meeting at 12:30 PM. Proposals related to the new Markapuram and Madanapalle districts may be discussed. The Chief Minister will also review plans for new districts and changes in revenue divisions.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee has given special attention to correcting irregularities made during the previous government. Ministers Anagani Satya Prasad, Nadendla Manohar, Nimmala Ramanaidu, BC Janardhan Reddy, Vangalapudi Anita, Narayana, and Satya Kumar Yadav submitted the final report to the Chief Minister. He issued several guidelines earlier, including keeping entire constituencies within a single division.
Markapuram and Madanapalle were recommended as district headquarters. Boundary changes of several constituencies will be discussed today. Proposed changes include shifting Nuzividu to NTR district, Kaikaluru to Krishna district, and Gudur back to Nellore district. Gannavaram’s future placement will also be presented. Six new revenue divisions may be created across the state.
The reorganisation must be completed by December 31 as per population rules. The sub-committee held its first meeting on August 13. Later, officials collected requests from the public, representatives, NGOs, and district collectors. Around 200 petitions were examined before preparing the detailed report.
