West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, warning that she will protest if even one eligible voter’s name is removed. Addressing a rally in Krishnanagar, she urged Bengal’s women to stay prepared with their kitchen tools as symbolic protest items. She claimed that the SIR process could be used to intimidate and silence women voters ahead of the Assembly elections.

Mamata Banerjee accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of acting in a “dangerous” manner by allegedly influencing the voter revision process. She said that attempts to delete names would not be tolerated and warned that Bengal’s mothers and sisters would resist any such move. Her remarks came amid rising concerns among various communities, including sex workers in Sonagachi, who fear voter-card cancellation due to SIR procedures.
