Man Dies After Jumping on Metro Track in Bengaluru; Services Disrupted
A man from Vijayapura died after jumping onto the metro tracks in Bengaluru on Friday morning. The incident occurred on the Purple Line, causing immediate suspension of services between Mysuru Road and Challaghatta stations from 8:20 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Metro staff and security personnel quickly alerted authorities, and train operations were halted to allow emergency teams to reach the spot.
The police have begun an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances that led to the incident. Commuters faced significant delays, with trains being terminated or diverted at intermediate stations. Large crowds appeared on platforms as peak-hour traffic was affected, and many passengers had to seek alternative transport.
Services gradually resumed after clearance was provided, and officials urged commuters to cooperate with safety protocols. The incident has once again raised concerns about platform safety and the need for enhanced surveillance along metro corridors.
