Imphal, Manipur — 25 November 2025:
A one-day lecture programme titled “Generative AI: Transforming the Landscape of Academic Research” was organised by the College Development Council (CDC) of Dhanamanjuri University in collaboration with the Department of Home Science, DMU. The event focused on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research and higher education.
Addressing the programme, Dr. Kh. Robindro Singh, Head of the Department of Computer Science at Manipur University, urged academia to rethink emerging trends in education. He highlighted the growing influence of Generative AI in research methodologies and its potential to reshape scholarly work across multiple disciplines.
Prof. L. Hemchandra Singh, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, DMU, stressed that AI remains a relatively new tool for many educators. He emphasised the importance of understanding AI dynamics to enhance teaching and learning capacities for new entrants in academia.
Prof. H. Sorojini, Director of CDC, DMU, noted that AI has penetrated every domain in the 21st century but cautioned researchers against over-reliance on AI-generated material. Similarly, Prof. L. Rajen Singh, Principal of GP Women’s College, described AI as a valuable tool, yet emphasised that it cannot replace traditional academic research methods. He encouraged scholars to adopt AI judiciously.
The lecture programme, hosted at the GP Women’s College Library Hall, was attended by senior academicians, faculty members, and students. Participants engaged in discussions on balancing AI integration with traditional research practices, reflecting a growing interest in leveraging technology while maintaining scholarly rigor.
The initiative underscores Manipur’s commitment to fostering innovation in education and preparing the next generation of researchers to harness the potential of AI responsibly.
