Manmohan Singh Tribute: Kharge & Rahul Gandhi Honour Former PM

Congress leaders remember Manmohan Singh on birth anniversary

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a leader of integrity, humility, and vision.

Kharge praised Singh for his pivotal role in shaping India’s economic growth, calling him a “gentle architect of the nation’s transformation.” He highlighted Singh’s emphasis on fairness, inclusivity, and welfare measures that benefited millions, and described him as a symbol of honesty and selfless service. “His legacy will continue to inspire generations of Indians,” Kharge said in a post on X.

Rahul Gandhi echoed these sentiments, acknowledging Singh’s dedication to nation-building and his decisive actions to uplift the poor and marginalized. Gandhi described Singh’s simplicity, humility, and commitment to public service as enduring sources of inspiration for the country.

Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 under the UPA government, was widely recognized for his economic reforms that strengthened India’s economy. He had earlier served as Finance Minister in the P.V. Narasimha Rao government (1991–1996), where he played a key role in liberalizing the economy and reducing state control over industries.

Born in 1932 in Gah, Punjab (now in Pakistan), Singh rose from modest beginnings to become a distinguished economist and respected public servant. He passed away in December of the previous year, leaving behind a legacy of economic foresight, honesty, and dedication to India’s growth and development.
