Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has attacked the BJP over the Hazratbal Dargah row. She called the party’s actions “dangerous and utterly reprehensible.” Mufti said the controversy around the revered shrine is a deliberate attempt to divide communities.
She argued that the BJP’s provocative politics hurts the emotions of people who consider Hazratbal sacred. According to her, such moves threaten the fragile peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The PDP president urged the government to restore trust instead of creating new disputes. She stressed that Hazratbal must remain above politics and should be respected as a symbol of harmony.
Reiterating her position, Mehbooba Mufti said the BJP targets religious places for political gain. She added that this approach reveals the party’s disregard for Kashmir’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Mufti appealed to people not to fall into divisive traps. She encouraged citizens to unite for peace rather than hostility.
Her remarks on the Hazratbal Dargah row have sharpened the political debate in the Valley. The issue has already drawn criticism from opposition groups and reactions from across party lines.
