Military Power Is Key to National Security, Says IAF Chief A.P. Singh
Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh said that military strength is the most important part of national security. Speaking at the 22nd Subroto Mukerjee Seminar in New Delhi, he explained that a strong defence force helps protect a country from being made weak or controlled by others. He used Venezuela and Iraq as recent examples of countries that became vulnerable because they did not have strong defence capabilities.
Singh added that while economic, diplomatic, and technological powers are important, ultimately military power determines a nation’s ability to protect itself. He also said that having the will to use military strength is just as important as having the strength itself, because showing restraint without strength can be seen as weakness.
He stressed the role of air power and said it has proven effective in many missions. Singh called for continued focus on modern defence and preparedness to face future challenges.
