Minor 3.7 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Alluri District, Felt in Vizag

A minor earthquake of magnitude 3.7 struck Alluri District on November 4, 2025, at 4:19 a.m., according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The tremor occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km, causing mild shaking in nearby areas, including Visakhapatnam city.
IMD Amaravati Director S. Stella stated that the earthquake was of low intensity and no damage to life or property has been reported so far. Residents in Vizag described light shaking that lasted a few seconds, prompting some to evacuate buildings as a precaution.
Seismologists noted that the region, part of the Eastern Ghats, occasionally experiences minor tremors due to localized stress along fault lines. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and follow standard earthquake safety protocols. No aftershocks have been reported in the hours following the event.
