Mizo Language Learning Centre to Open in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai

Mizo language learning centre opening in Kamalanagar, Lawngtlai to teach language skills for government exams

A Mizo language learning centre will soon be set up in Kamalanagar, located in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, to help young people and job aspirants improve their language skills. The initiative aims to support those preparing for government exams, where proficiency in Mizo is often a key requirement.

The decision was made following a meeting with the District School Education Board, local headmasters, and representatives from the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (MCSU). Rasik Mohan Chakma, legislator from the Tuichawng constituency and member of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), also participated and emphasized the need for such a centre.

Chakma highlighted that many candidates struggle with the Mizo language test, which is mandatory for recruitment in state government jobs. He noted that providing a dedicated learning space would help students practice effectively and increase their chances of success.

To support the project, Chakma announced he would allocate funds from his MLA quota to help establish the centre in Kamalanagar, also known locally as Chawngte. The facility will focus on teaching language skills and preparing aspirants for official exams.

The centre will be managed jointly by the MCSU (Central) and the CADC education department, which will provide logistical support including classrooms and study materials. Officials said the project is expected to become fully operational soon, offering structured training and guidance to the region’s youth.

This initiative is expected to benefit a large number of students who need to meet the Mizo language requirement for government jobs. Organizers said it will also help improve confidence among young aspirants and promote education while preserving the local language and culture.
